Worldwide, turtle populations are in decline. Quebec’s turtles are no exception to this trend. The 8 species of turtles in Quebec are in a precarious situation due to the destruction and degradation of habitats, increased mortality along roads, excessive predation of eggs, and illegal captivity.

IN 2016, ÉCO-NATURE CREATED THE QUEBEC TURTLE REHABILITATION CENTER TO HELP QUEBEC’S TURTLES

The mission of the Quebec Turtle Rehabilitation Center is to reduce the mortality of adult turtles and increase the survival of young turtles (eggs and hatchlings) through care, citizen support, and education. With the help of volunteer veterinarians and the support of the community, these actions contribute to the recovery of Quebec’s native turtle populations which are in a precarious situation.
