A record year for the Nature Discovery day camp at Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
The Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles offered once again this year its Nature Discovery day camp, spread over nine weeks, from June 24 to August 23. This outdoor day camp for children aged 6 to 14 had a record year!
“We are particularly happy to see the enthusiasm generated, year after year, by our day camp, which is constantly growing. We reached nearly 700 weeks sold for summer 2019, an increase of 40% in 2 years.", (Translation) said Louis Provost-Brien, Programming Director.
The programming definitely pleased its customers, as much as its parents. “For his first summer camp experience, we wanted the best and chose the day camp at Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. We were right on target! Our daughter came back from camp every evening, her eyes bright and we saw our child develop and become more aware of nature and ecology. In addition, at 6 years old, she is now aware of pollution, animals, fish, recycling and respect for the nature that surrounds us.", (Translation) testified Caroline M., mother of little Olivia.
“We owe this growing success to an animation team which constantly seeks to push its limits, which is close to young people and which demonstrates daring and imagination in its animation. We can only be proud of them and what they have accomplished over the years.", (Translation) added Louis Provost-Brien.
This year, children were able to take advantage of the renewed facilities at the Exploration Center, including a large room dedicated to them. The latter offers the permanent exhibition, Believe it or not!, which highlights the history of the Mille Îles River, its vast ecosystems and its environmental issues, as well as an ecology laboratory where several species are presented. This new Exploration Center is made up of a grandiose reception hall, a café area, rooms for various events and a boat rental center. Moreover, the Park would like to thank the Caisses Desjardins de Laval for their involvement with youth.
“Desjardins is proud to partner with Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles by providing it with new equipment, which will allow it to continue its mission towards young schoolchildren, day camp youth and corporate groups of the region.", (Translation) said Ms. Mariève Rémillard, Communications Advisor at Desjardins.
The Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles team is already working on the next edition of the Plaisir d’hiver day camp which will take place during the school break week, from March 2 to 6, 2020. A multitude of outdoor activities will be offered to enjoy the joys of the winter season. An invitation not to be missed!
