Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles wins three major awards
Laval, November 3, 2020 - At the 39th Dunamis Gala, held virtually for the first time on October 29, the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded two prestigious Dunamis prizes to Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, in the Tourism Business and Investment categories.
The following day, on October 30, the Société des musées du Québec announced the recipients of its eight annual awards, which are based on a rigorous, merit-based selection process. Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is proud to have won the prestigious Prix Excellence in the $2 million and over category, for its Exploration Center - Espace muséal du Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles project.
The year 2019 is a memorable one for the non-profit organization, which has been awarded these three highly prized awards. Indeed, on November 13, 2019, the Park also received the ultimate recognition in Quebec, winning the Prix excellence tourisme "Initiative en innovation et développement de l'offre", awarded by the Alliance de l'industrie touristique du Québec, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
The fruit of a close collaboration with the Ville de Laval, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, the governments of Québec and Canada, local residents and many other partners, the new Exploration Center is a daring project, combining recreational, cultural and scientific facilities. The Exploration Center contributes to the enhancement of a cultural heritage and natural environment at the junction of four RCMs, while meeting the highest standards of sustainable development.
The entire team would like to take this opportunity to thank its invaluable partners, who have supported the organization since the very beginning of this project: the City of Laval, with an investment of over $7 million and ongoing logistical support; the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Habitation and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, who have together invested $5 million; as well as many other partners and supporters, including Canadian Heritage, the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and Tourisme Laval.
"We're extremely proud of these accolades. All of this was made possible by a passionate and dedicated team and, of course, by our many loyal partners who take Éco-Nature's mission to heart," (Translation) says David Maréchal, Chairman of the Board of Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles.
Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is honoured to have been considered among a number of companies and organizations that demonstrate, each in their own unique way, a spirit of initiative. These honours are a wonderful recognition of its innovative spirit, creativity and commitment to exceeding standards, especially after a difficult season like the one just past.
In conclusion, the team would like to congratulate and highlight the remarkable work of all the finalists in each of the categories. In particular, we salute our colleagues who also work in the tourism industry for their dynamism, creativity and resilience.
