The inauguration of the Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Exploration Center
The Minister for Transport and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal region, Ms. Chantal Rouleau, the Member of Parliament for Sainte-Rose, Mr. Christopher Skeete, the president of the Planning Commission of the Metropolitan Community of Montreal ( CMM) and member of the council of the City of Montreal, Mr. Jérôme Normand, on behalf of the president of the CMM and mayor of the City of Montreal, Ms. Valérie Plante, who was able to visit the Center the previous week, as well as the Mayor of the City of Laval, Mr. Marc Demers, inaugurated the new Exploration Center at Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles on Tuesday, March 19.
This new Exploration Center project was made possible thanks to a financial contribution of $5 million divided equally between the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) and the Metropolitan Community of Montreal (CMM). The City of Laval completed the financing for a total investment of more than $10.5 million. Éco-Nature is very proud to manage this Center in which it has also invested more than $2.5 million with the help of valuable partners. A significant part of this sum was devoted to its new permanent exhibition on the history and ecosystem of the River entitled Believe it or not!.
The Exploration Center, located at 345 boulevard Sainte-Rose, stands out with contemporary and avant-garde architecture offering a magnificent view of the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles that is sure to please everyone! In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, this establishment is aiming for LEED Gold certification, because it was built with the idea of achieving high performance in key areas of human health and the environment.
The Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles will officially open its Exploration Center for the start of the season, on Saturday, May 11, 2019. From this date, visitors will be able to rent boats (canoe, kayak, paddle board, rowboat, rabaska, etc.) at the new rental center.
